At Kamakura Rakuan, we continue our weekly walks through the town while picking up litter.
This small habit, shared with our family and staff, helps preserve the beauty and daily life of Kamakura — here’s a look at our activities and how you can join us.
Introduction
At Kamakura Rakuan, we’ve been picking up litter every Sunday around our inn, along the streets, and on the way to the sea.
Even if we can’t do something big, we believe small actions matter — so we keep our hands moving, together with family and staff, whenever we can.
This simple routine began back in June 2020 and continues to this day.
Today I joined with my daughter — she was the most enthusiastic one, picking up trash with a smile.
It feels good to make the town a little cleaner, one piece at a time.
Weekly Route & Collection Notes

What These Small Habits Create
- Preserving the scenery:Just reducing litter makes a huge difference in how the streets and views feel.
- Building community:More people greet us along the way — small conversations with neighbors and passersby begin naturally.

Closing
Kamakura, though known as a sightseeing destination, is first and foremost a place where people live.
As an inn and as a member of this community, we at Kamakura Rakuan will continue doing what we can — step by step — to keep our town beautiful and welcoming.
